Make your own … Herbal Preparations
There are countless ways to use herbs – This article aims to introduce a series of preparations, with recipes and ideas to help you start making your own herbal preparations. Not all herbs are safe to use and the health conditions or prescription drugs must be taken into consideration. Please search for herbs before use.
A quick word utenstils: We recommend that you use glass containers that stainless steel pots and pans and utensils glaze. Avoid using plastic, wood and metals (except stainless steel) as they may contaminate the preparations.
INFUSIONS
An infusion of water is one of the simplest ways to prepare herbs for a variety of uses – and this is something we do every time we make the common cup ol tea. "A single plant species or a combination of herbs can be used and the resulting infusion can be drunk hot or cold
Herbal Cuppa
The lump sum for a cup herb "tea" is a teaspoon or 2 teaspoons fresh herbs / s for each cup of freshly boiled water. Herbal Baths

Decoctions
For more stringent measures against weeds, roots, seeds, dried berries and bark, more aggressive treatment of a single injection is often necessary to extract the components of medicinal plants. As an infusion, decoction can be taken hot or cold.

To avoid mixing stick to the skin apply a small amount of carrier oil (like olive oil or sweet almond) on the skin before applying the poultice.
Or sometimes crushed herbs in a cheesecloth or muslin to surgery of the packaging, place in a bowl and pour enough boiling water to cover the package. Soak for 3-5 minutes, drain the water, allow to cool poultice to a comfortable temperature and place in the affected area. To make a poultice bruish Cold Crush fresh herbs to make a paste which is then spread on a cloth and placed in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. Withdraw and place in the affected area.
A poultice of chamomile flowers can be placed around the throat and neck to help soothe a sore throat. Comfrey can be used in small fractures and bruises – but do not use comfrey on broken skin.
Dyes
The dyes are created by soaking herbs in alcohol and the result of preparation which should last 1-2 years if stored properly.
Use 200 g 300 g fresh or dried 1 liter of alcohol (vodka, brandy or rum). A normal dose is 5 ml diluted in water or fruit juice, take 2-3 times a day, put the herbs in a glass jar, pour on alcohol to ensure that all the grass is covered, put the lid and shake. Leave in a cool, dark place for a fortnight, stirring every two days or less. Strain and pour into clean glass bottles and store in a cool, dark place.
hops tincture is recommended by some herbalists as a remedy for insomnia. Use 10 drops at first, increasing to a maximum of 30 if necessary. Do not take if you suffer from depression. Echinacea tincture can be effective taken at the first signs of colds and flu – take 1 / 2 teaspoon with water 2 times a day. A teaspoon of tincture of myrrh diluted in 5 tablespoons hot water can be used as a gargle to cure a sore throat.
TONIC WINE
Tonic wines seem a bit like a coloring – Herbs are used to fill a cleaning / VAT, to which the wine (or port) is made so that the grass is completely covered and the level of wine is above the grass. Site of infusion or decoction in a saucepan with the heat of honey or sugar and gently, stirring until the continuosuly honey / sugar is dissolved and mixture has a syrupy consistency. Remove from heat and let cool. Once cooled pour into sterilized glass container, use a cork as a stopper and put in a cool, dark place. The cork is important – Syrups are liable to ferment and may explode if kept in a screw topped bottle cap. A regular dose of syrup is 5-10 ml (1-2 v. tsp) three times a day. Store up to 6 months.
JUICE
leaves of fresh herbs, such as Blades, Melissa, borage, fennel, dandelion can be liquefied to produce juice plant nutrients, which can also be mixed with fresh fruit and vegetable juices. Place fresh herbs in a food processor or blender and blend until mixture is thick slurry green. Enjoy 2 v. Tea / 10 ml mixed with a small amount of vegetable juice or water fuirt / if you prefer, three times a day. Keep herbs juice refrigerated and use within 48 hours.
